Zodiac by Chris Ballinger is not just a trick, but a complete system for creating a lasting impression on your audience.
The Effect:
The performer shows a pile of cards depicting the signs of the Zodiac. A spectator is asked to cut the cards and the remainder is used to make a circular calendar. The spectator counds how many cards they cut and then moves around the calendar to that number. When the card they are pointing to is turned over, it is shown to be their sign! Then they look at the card they cut to and it is an exact match as well. These are the only two cards in the entire pile that match their Zodiac symbol.Effect Two:
This can be done as a stand alone effect or as a follow-up to the routine just mentioned. The pile of Zodiac cards are split in two and both pile are shuffled by the spectator. One pile is taken by the spectator and the other by the magician. The magician places cards face-down on the table and the spectator puts their cards on top of them one at a time. At the end of the routine all of the cards match perfectly. This can be doen as a prediction, a mind-reading, or a cold-reading effect.Effect Three:
Two spectators connect as one secretly places their card down on the table. The other spectator says "stop" anywhere they like as the second pile of Zodiac cards are delt on the table. When the two cards are turned over, it is an exact match.Recommended For:

Zodiac is easy to use and impactful. Variations taught by Chris walk you through simple to advanced handlings and performance options. Chris' delivery and teaching style is crisp and clear with very little ambiguity. You'll have no trouble mastering the techniques he's teaching and will be up and running with this illusion in no time (practice first, of course!). I really like the look of the cards as they are compelling and actually draw so much attention from the audience that you're free to just "perform" with the trick. People get into the subject matter quickly (and Chris has some great advice on audience handling here that's really spot on). I've seen few illusions at this price point that come close to the power and versatility this illusion provides. I suggest you use if for close-up as it doesn't work as well with walk-around or stage performances - but your mileage may vary on that point. I've used it to set up "psychic" themed and "mythology" themed shows. Very cool product that's quality through and through.Performance Ease Of Use Price

This is an excellent effect and great routines! Even though they are cards, it is great because it is not a "card" trick. Chris is an excellent instructor and I love his lighthearted humor. I try to learn not only how to perform the routines, but to take pointers from his way of entertaining people. I have a lot of magic effects I've accumulated over the years, and many of them I could have easily done without, but this is one of those items I think you will put in your pile of effects you wil use and come back to again and again.Performance Ease Of Use Price

After watching the supplied dvd and walking through the routine, I was amazed at the simplicity of this product and the super effects possible. My only problem is the carry case. This is a package every practicing magician should have on hand. I would rate this a 99 out of 100 only for the carry case. Also, I recieved the product before I had a chance to track it's path. An old principle brought up to date. Even those familiar with the principle will not think of it because of the additional revelation you can do with this in performing effect 1. There are several other strong effects with this pack, using different principles. The cards are very nicely produced and are a refreshing change from ESP/Zener cards and playing cards. Also, because of the fact that they are Zodiac cards, you can come up with other nice presentations. You get a well produced DVD, about an hour long, that includes performances and complete and clear instructions. At 20 bucks, I think its a real bargain.
