In celebration of my newest trick Moustache. Magic Geek is proud to offer the Moustache Madness Giveaway.

This is your chance to win one of five limited edition boxed Moustache sets or every trick I've ever created (including the ones that have been discontinued.) In addition, every time you enter to win you'll get a free Bicycle brand Svengali Deck and $1.00 off your purchase.

Here's how you enter to win: place an order for anything at Magic Geek and use Coupon Code 7585. Your order must be completed before April 29th and you must apply the code in order to get your name into the running.

Place as many orders as you like. You can tip the odds in your favor by placing multiple orders with the coupon code.

On April 30th we will take all of the entries, put them into a hat and draw five names. The first four will get the Limited Edition Boxed Set of Moustache with the exclusive leather wallet. These wallets were hand treated and sewn by Make Smith Leather to perfectly fit your set of Moustache Cards. The embossed lettering is gold leafed to perfectly accent your wallet. Each box will be signed and numbered to commemorate the exclusivity of these five sets.

The Fifth person drawn will win the Boxed Moustache set and every trick that I've ever created. This list includes favorites like Redemption, The Shark, Monarch, DOS, Permanent, Ransom, and 'Fraid Knot. It also includes two discontinued items that cannot be purchased: Angry Sponges and Anttack. • Draw Magic Geek's Life

Posted on April 12, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

Lately Youtube and Twitter have been flooded with "Draw My Life" videos (#drawmylife). It seemed like a pretty cool way to tell the story of Magic Geek and since I liked to draw we thought we'd take a stab at it.

In this video Brian (Magic Geek Owner) and I (Chris Ballinger) take you through the history of Magic Geek and let you know how it became the website it is today.

  • Closer Look at Moustache

Posted on April 4, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

The final touches are being added to my latest trick "Moustache" and I am so excited about sharing it with the magic world! I truly believe that this is one of the best routines out there for connecting with your audience.

The moustache has become an iconic symbol and a new wave of style. I think it's about time that we as magicians catch up with this trend and take advantage of a topic that has built-in popularity.

I have been playing with the moustache theme in magic for over a year now and I think that I have finally come up with the most practical and visually appealing routine possible.

As we wrap up the DVD for this project, I have been diving deep into my past journal entries, making sure that all relevant material is included in the final cut.

I've posted a few photographs of design and concept sketches that have been filling up my idea books for the last year or so.

As with most of the projects we do, a majority of the ideas did not make it to the final cut. It can be tough to determine which concepts are the most useful and which ones I'm just holding onto because I want them to work. But after testing every outcome in real-world conditions I think we've made room for only the best material.

  • Favorite Thing To Do

Posted on April 3, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

One of my all-time favorite things to work on at Magic Geek has to be producing the Geeky Times. Every month we get to share what's going on here at Magic Geek in a fun and creative way.

This free newsletter is always packed with stuff like in-depth magic reviews, games, contests, coupon codes and the occasional craft. April 2013 features a cut-out activity that we think is so ridiculous and entertaining that we made a video of me building one.

The Miraculous Myriorama Moustache Machine is obviously brought to you by my latest trick Moustache. It took quite a bit of trial and error to get the original to work, but the final product is so amusing, that I keep one on my desk for visitors to play with. Even if no one out there actually goes through the trouble of building one for themselves, I'm really proud of mine and happy that the option is in this issue of the Times.

Every month brings new challenges as I try to figure out what is going to be in the times, draw all of the illustrations and design some sort of puzzle or game to include. I hope that you are enjoying the final product as much as we enjoy putting it all together.

The Geeky Times is a free newsletter that goes into every package that leaves the Magic Geek Warehouse. The only way to get your hands on a copy is to place an order and it will be delivered with the rest of your package. Each month is different and there are no back-issues, once the month is over, the previous issue goes into the vault for safe-keeping.

  • Youtubers Visit Magic Geek

Posted on April 2, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

Last weekend the whole family was in town plus "The Queen of Youtube" Glozell! What?!

    Glozell Youtube

For those of you who don't know, almost my entire family produces content for Youtube. My sister Colleen has a spotlight channel called Psychosoprano, she is also in charge of Youtube Sensation MirandaSings08's channel, my other sister Rachel has NOVAQUA (I don't know what that stands for, so don't ask) and even my daughter has a video that went viral; it's called "Daddy Has a Penis". But for real: that's what it's called.

Anyway, through various projects that Colleen has been involved in (Dr. Fubalous, Miranda Sings, etc.) she has become friends with lots of other youtubers including the wonderful Glozell. Why not invite her and her fiance and manager S.K. to Easter at our parents' house?

After lunch on Saturday I gave everyone a tour of the Magic Geek Warehouse and we had some fun with my latest creation: Moustache.

Youtube is a fantastic way to promote your magic and reach a wider audience. Being able to point potential clients to your promotional video on youtube is a game-changer when it comes to booking gigs.

Stay tuned to the Magic Geek Blog for more ideas on how to produce an effective youtube campaign for your magic.

  • 60 Second Product Reviews

Posted on March 15, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

Presenting the all-new Magic Geek 60 Second Product Reviews with Chris Ballinger.

The goal of these reviews are to get you the information you need to know before buying a magic product in as little time as possible.

We have given ourselves a 60 Second time limit. Also, the reviews have to be done in one take. What happens if we go over the 60 second time limit? Well, it hasn't happened yet. But if it ever does, you can be sure that it won't be pretty.

The first product we are reviewing is Hide and Seek. A lot of you have been asking about this one and so we hope we've answered most of your questions in the first issue of the 60 Second Product Reviews.

We plan on doing a lot of these, but we need your help. The only way that we'll know which products you want reviewed is to tell us. Please comment below with a product that you want to know more about. I promise we will review as many of the requested products as possible.

  • Searching for Searches

Posted on February 23, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

Late last year we moved over to a new shopping cart platform. This new system allows for all kinds of great perks including wishlists, discounts, paying with Paypal and more. But in our quest to help our customers easily find what they were looking for, we found the search function to be okay, but not uber-fantastic (which--of course--is the goal.)

Our solution is to put our very best programmers on the case and cater the search function to you, the customer. But in order to do that, we need your help!

If you have searched for something and couldn't easily find what you were looking for please let us know. Post a comment on this blog post saying "I'm searching for _________" and fill in the blank with whatever it is that you are searching for on the site. By doing so, you will be helping yourself and future Magic Geeks find what they are looking for!

For any search posted, we'll either fix the search function to easily find that product or category and if not, we'll answer you directly through the blog comments. As always, we appreciate your input and look forward to hearing your suggestions.

  • Winner-Winner Chicken Dinner

Posted on February 14, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

Congratulations to "Julie Nelson" winner of the Killer Bee Word Search Challenge. Julie found all of the correct words, used all of the letters found in the middle of each word in the hexagonal grid and unscrambled them to make the word "Ransom". What could be a more fitting prize than a one-of-a-kind Collector's Edition Ransom Case?

    Ransom Collector's Edition

This custom-made Case contains three stacks of million dollar bills which can be used to perform the Ransom Bill switch or just left as a handsome display. Under the secret panel there is an original illustration from this month's Geeky Times, a letter form me (Chris Ballinger) and all the props that come with Ransom.

    Word Search Grand Prize

The aluminum cast itself is decorated in Ransom style and is signed by the creator of the trick.

Ransom truly is my favorite impromptu magic trick and I perform it more than any of the other tricks that I have created. This true collector's item is and will remain the only one of its kind to ever exist and we are very excited to present it to the winner of this month's Geeky Times Word Search Challenge.

    Chris Ballinger's Ransom

If you think that you've figured out the word search too, please post a picture of it on my facebook wall and I'll send you your choice of a signed Chris Ballinger trick of $20 value or less. If you've ordered from us this month, you already have the word search in your possession. If you haven't, you'd better hurry and get a copy of this month's Geeky Times because I'm only accepting winners until February 28th.
