  • Meet Carter

Posted on August 21, 2008 by chris ballinger

Say hello to our new shop fish "Carter the Bait". (But you can call him Carter.) We originally got him to star in the Kozuch Gimmick demo and he's now our resident bubble blower.

    null

The Kozuch Gimmick makes it possible for you to make live fish appear, turn water into juice, cause coins to materialize, multiply silks, and tons more. The gimmick is so versatile that any clever magician can come up with specific routines that match their exact performance style.

It comes with instructions for the routines Ah, Ah, Ah, Fish...", Incredible Appearance, Instant Juice, Invisible Coins, Disappearing Coins, Scarf Duplication, Final Applause, Out if the Air Coin, Removal of Dollar Bill or a Piece of Paper out of an Envelope, Flash Appearance. Also included is a link to videos showing different performances possible with the gimmick.

At any rate, I just wanted to give you an update on Carter and let you know that after his performance in the Kozuch demo, he is soaking up retired life in his luxury fish bowl on my desk.

  • The Geekmobile

Posted on August 19, 2008 by chris ballinger

I'm not entirely sure that we need a "Geekmobile" but I'm sure glad we have one. A while back we ordered a Kikker 5150 and it came in just last week. Aidan somehow managed to make sense out of the five boxes of parts and put the thing together without instructions. It didn't happen as fast as when Copperfield makes a motorcycle materialize, but that's okay.

I made this little video to showcase our new little chopper.

It's not a full sized hog--actually more like a little piglet--but we love it and it's turning a lot of heads in our warehouse parking lot. Aidan and Brian look like real geeks when they ride it. And me? I'm not going on that thing! It's dangerous.

  • What's in a Download?

Posted on August 7, 2008 by chris ballinger

Instant downloads are high-quality tricks with none of the hassle of shipping. Download. Learn. Perform. And, as with all of our tricks, we are happy to help you with any questions or concerns that you might have.We wanted to go into a little detail about what you're getting into by purchasing one of our instantly downloadable tricks. So to help us out, I've taken some screenshots from our latest publication and posted them here to give you an idea.

One of the goals for the Instant Downloads was to make them as entertaining as possible. We did a lot of work on The Lineup in order to make it as visually interesting as possible. Graphics, animation, titles, and costumes were all used to keep it looking good without crossing the line into annoying.

Video quality is another concern of ours. We were sick and tired of magic being taught through webcams and cell phone cameras. That's why we use professional camera, sound, and lighting equipment.

In each of the downloads you are taught how to build the gimmicks that you will need in detail. With The Lineup you are actually provided with image files of the gimmicked cards. Simply print the cards onto a heavy-stocked paper and we show you how to finish the cards and use them.

  • My Trip to Washington

Posted on July 28, 2008 by chris ballinger

Hey everyone! I recently went on a little trip to Seatle Washington for a wedding. While there I visited the very-cool Pike's Place Magic Shop. That's me in the picture with my little daughter, Bailey.

    null

Whilst there I rummaged through one of their discount book bins and found this awesome comic book that screamed "Magic Geek!" First off, it's a comic book and comic books are almost as geeky as sleight-of-hand. Secondly, it features master magician Harry Houdini. Lastly it's a Batman comic, and Batman (as we all know) was modeled after our super-hero logo. Anyway, It's pretty cool to see the Caped Crusader and the King of Cards teaming up to fight vampires, it's just the way it should be.
