  • Your First Magic Trick

Posted on September 9, 2013 by Chris Ballinger

This week was all about you guys! Thanks for sharing your first magic tricks with us:

Before we get into what tricks you suggested, I want to point out that this is the only week to get the free video file from me, Chris Ballinger. All you have to do is place an order and I will make a video thanking you by name for the order. If you want, you can save the file to your computer, email it to your firends, post it on youtube or facebook or whatever you want! It belongs to you! Hurry and place your order today to make sure you get your video.

Here are some of the tricks that you started off with:

Cups and Balls Cups and Balls:
This classic is great because it can grow with you. Start off with the super-easy version of the trick and add on more complicated sleights as your talents and interests expand.
    Magic Frame Magic Frame:
This is a fantastic beginner trick because it looks impossible, everything is examinable and, best of all: it's super-easy to do!
Ball and Vase Ball and Vase:
Another fantastic beginner trick. This was my first trick and I loved it. A great introduction to magic.
    Svengali Deck Svengali Deck:
This was one of my favorite tricks as a kid. I still perform it from time to time because it is so impossible looking. What I really love about the Svengali Deck is that there is so much you can do with it!
    Haunted Key Haunted Key:
This is a fantastic effect to perform during the Halloween season. It's easy to do and it gets a great reaction, especially since the key can be immediately examined.
    Spiked Coin Spiked Coin:
Hearing all of these first tricks is drumming up all kinds of fond memories for me. I thought that the Spiked Coin was so clever as a kid. It's a great penetration of solid through solid.
    Rising Card Rising Card:
When performed correctly, the Rising Card can become an outright miracle. I have always loved this trick and used to perform it over and over and over.
    Blendo Blendo Trick:
You've got to check out the video demo for this one. It's not just a beginners trick. Time and time again, I've seen professionals use this trick in their everyday act.
